British soap Coronation Street attracts biggest audience on 50th year episode

UK Today News: British soap Coronation Street’s live show attracted around 14.027 million viewers on its 50th year episode on Friday. Reports state that the live ITV 1 soap was viewed by 52.1% of the audience during prime time – between 8pm to 9pm.

The final 15 minutes of the show reportedly attracted 14.230 million viewers. The show also had 14.9 million viewers for five minutes. Earlier, the show was watched by 12.902 viewers for the tram crash episode.

The tram crash episode had also declared the opening of the “Corriegedden week” on Monday. Moreover, 2.038 million viewers had watched the repeat telecast of the episode.

The Coronation Street had attracted more viewers than BBC1’s The Apprentice, the final five episodes where the remaining contestants had gone through the Lord Sugar business show.

Coronation Street was started in the year 1960 by Granada Television. Since then, the show has been highly successful commercially on Television. In September 2010, the show became the longest running TV soap.
