In some relief for the Chinese population, the country has decided to end its controversial One-Child policy. The information was given through a Tweet by the state news agency Xinhua on October 29, 2015.

The Tweet said that all couples will be allowed to have two children. The one-child policy was adopted by Beijing three decades before and limited most of the country to only one child. No much information was given about the end of the policy and was announced from the annual four-day plenum of the Chinese Communist party’s Central Committee which is due to end on October 29, 2015.
The country’s capital has been under immense pressure to scrap the one-child policy as it has the policy led to a shortage of workers and most of the population started ageing. This is also a time when China is facing an economic slowdown. On the other hand experts have opined that the change is not likely to cause any large effect on the size of the population as some of the recent policies that intended to improve the birth rate failed to create a boom.
The one-child policy was introduced in 1979 when the Chinese Community had predicted that this would lead to a runaway population growth.
