Reports say that these Maytag dishwashers come with plastic tubs and an electrical failure in the heating element can create a fire hazard for consumers.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission, who made public the recall on Thursday, said that Maytag has received 12 reports of electrical failures in the dishwasher heating element which has caused “fires and damage”. Fortunately no injuries have been reported yet in any of these cases.

The recall includes the following: Maytag, Amana, Jenn-Air, Admiral, Magic Chef, Performa by Maytag and Crosley brand dishwashers

These recalled dishwashers were stated to have been sold at department and appliance stores across USA between February 2006 and April 2010. The affected units were sold between $250 and $900.
