The ban on same sex marriages was put by Judge Vaughn Walker, the Chief US District Judge, claiming that the Proposition 8 (voter approved) breaches the constitution of USA.

Same sex marriages have already been legalized in five states of the United States that include New Hampshire, Vermont, Connecticut, Iowa and Massachusetts.

Just a short while ago, prior to the Preposition 8 came into existence, same sex marriages were allowed in California.

The case is likely to make its way to the Supreme Court of United States, and that will be the ultimate decision that would have to be followed, whether its a green signal or a red signal for same sex marriages.
