Oktoberfest

Oktoberfest is the famous German beer festival that takes place every year and it begins with the official tapping-of-the barrel ceremony. This year it was carried out by Christian Ude, the Mayor of Munich.

Reports state that Oktoberfest has a lot more to offer visitors at this year’s festival, and organizers claim that it is going to be the biggest ever since visitors will be able to taste a variety of beers, ales in addition to loads of other types of alcohol mainly from Germany as well as international brewers.

All the traditional celebrations will be followed this year too, like every year, but this year there is an addition of a “microbe” – which will be used to get rid of the bad odor that the stale beer and food emit. Organizers say that the bacteria will be added to a solution, which will be used on floorboards of tents and other places in order to eliminate the foul odor.

In the USA, Oktoberfest has begun in Cincinnati, and this is the 35th year of the event called Zinzinnati. It will see visitors enjoy loads of beer, in addition to some great German food and German music. Organizers say that they expect around half a million visitors at the Oktoberfest Cincinnati event this year.

Cheers to a better smelling Oktoberfest 2010 – not forgetting the great celebrations ahead!
