UK Today News: Mount Merapi Erupts Again – Indonesia’s Volcano Spews Ash, Smoke On Monday

Indonesia’s volcano Mount Merapi has erupted yet again on Monday morning, spewing ash and smoke, according to officials. Reports state that the volcano sent a 1.5 kilometer plume towards the south.

Monday’s eruption was not as big as the one last week (which killed 34 people), but officials have warned of another eruption this week. Sources say that people returned to check on their homes and livestock, but were forced to flee yet again and many are being evacuated.

Mount Merapi spewed fumes and hot ash into the sky and down it’s slopes on Monday morning, and created a sense of panic yet again among the people who reside at the foot of Indonesia’s active volcano in central Java.

Merapi, which is considered to be a sacred volcano in certain Javanese beliefs, is widely considered to be a very unpredictable volcano.
