UK Today News: All Saints’ Day To Follow Halloween Day aka All Hallows Eve

All Hallos Eve Today – All Saints’ Day, which is also known as All Hallows, is the day which is observed on 1st November – a day after Halloween day. This day sees certain sects of Christianity commemorating their departed family/friends, who they believe have not been cleansed and reached heaven.

Tradition states that All Saint’s day, which is followed by All Soul’s day, is a day that is celebrated to pay tribute to the saints and to pay honor to the unknown saints who are in a state of ‘Purgatory’.

In order to understand the significance of this day better, Wikipedia states, “Christian denominations celebrate All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day because of the fundamental belief that there is a prayerful spiritual communion between those in the state of grace who have died and are either being purified in purgatory or are in heaven (the ‘church penitent’ and the ‘church triumphant’, respectively), and the ‘church militant’ who are the living. Different Christian traditions define, remember and respond to the saints in very different ways.”

People prayer and fast at night, and the whole day is celebrated solemnly, with the faithful going to Mass. The next day, November 2nd,  marks All Souls’ Day, where the faithful pay tribute to the departed and visit the cemeteries where their dear ones were laid to rest.
