The Prime Minister of U.K., David Cameron, has stated in a meeting with U.S. President Barack Obama, that the U.K. troops will start leaving Afghanistan by next year, only if the conditions seem suitable. U.K. will reportedly start with pulling out of 9500 British troops by next year.

Cameron also asked whether the U.K. could emulate the U.S., since U.S.A will be withdrawing its troops by July 2011.

Mr. Cameron said that he would make this move only on the conditions prevailing on the ground in Afghanistan. He added on his interview on BBC Radio 5 Live: “I mean, the faster we can transition districts and provinces to Afghan control, clearly the faster that some forces can be brought home. I don’t want to raise expectations about that because that transition should be based on how well the security situation is progressing.” (Guardian)

He also stated that victory could in Afghanistan could only be seen when the region would be given in the hands of a proper government and a stable army, plus a proper police force that would be able enough to take care of the people in the country.
