Captain Morgan powers England to series levelling T20 win

England have managed to finish the year on a high, winning the second T20 international against India at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai on December 22, 2012. It has been a great tour so far for the English as they won the Test series and have now drawn the T20 series. The One Day Internationals will be played in January 2013.

It was a nail-biting finish as England came close to losing the game after India posted 177/8 in their 20 overs. Kohli, Raina and Dhoni all contributed for India with 38 runs, 35 runs and 38 runs respectively. Wright and Dernbach took 2 wickets a piece to restrict the Indians to a sub 200 total.

England replied with a strong opening partnership, with Hales and Lumb scoring 42 runs and 50 runs respectively to take the total to 80, which was when the first wicket fell. The star of the match though was English skipper Eoin Morgan with an unbeaten 49 runs, the last 6 of which came off the final ball of the English innings, with 3 runs required.

The match came down to the wire with England needing 9 runs off the last over, as the new man at the crease Buttler had just crashed a four and a six to up the momentum. Morgan ran 1’s and 2’s and proceeded to hit the last one out of the ground to seal a victory and cap a great year for England.
