Rachel Weisz’s L’Oreal ad banned by Advertising Standards Authority

UK Today News: An advertisement for L’Oreal’s anti-wrinkle cream featuring British film and theatre actress Rachel Weisz has been banned stating that the images are misleading. The Advertising Standards Authority says that the advertisement exaggerated the performance of the product.

The double page magazine spread says, “Skin looks smoother, complexion looks more even. Its not a Facelift, its Reviltalift’. The ASA has warned that the print advert must not appear again in its current form.

The move was taken after a complaint from Liberal Democrat MP Jo Swinson, who said that the image of Weisz has been altered post production and had also substantially changed her complexion so as to make it look smoother and even. The regulator added that the advert misleadingly exaggerated the performance of the product.

The advertisement was for the Revitalift Repair 10 which features a close-up, black and white picture of Rachel. Swinson is the co-founder of Campaign for Body Confidence and last year complained to the ASA about L’Oreal Magazine’s ads featuring Julia Roberts for the Lancome foundation product Teint Miracle. The co-founder had also complained about Christy Turlington for Maybelline foundation The Eraser. L’Oreal said that every effort was made to make the picture more flattering with the help of lights.

Amanda Holden hopes to return to Britain’s Got Talent next week

UK Today News: English actress and presenter Amanda Holden is currently recovering in the hospital after fighting for her life while giving birth to a baby girl. But despite the life-threatening incident, the actress is hoping to join back with Britain’s Got Talent as early as next week.

Amanda spent three days in a critical condition and was discharged only on January 31, 2012, but the ‘Kiss Me Kate’ actress is said to be up beat and getting stronger every day.

Holden is resting at her home is south west London and is hoping to recover quickly so that she can rejoin the show. The makers have not replaced Amanda for the BGT auditions and the actress hopes to get back with Simon Cowell, David Walliams and Alisha Dixon when the show visits Edinburgh.

One of the close friends of the actress said that it was good to see her quick recovery and Amanda seems to be happy and overwhelmed by all the lovely messages she has received.

Reports said that the actress went through a blood transfusion due to complications during C-Section. The actress and her husband Chris Hughes did not reveal any details of the condition. The new baby has been named Hollie and weighed just over 6lb.

Kate Middleton and Prince William adopt a Cocker Spaniel pup

UK Today News: Kate Middleton and Prince William have a new family member, a cocker spaniel puppy. Reports said that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge got the puppy in the month of December 2012 and it is two months old.

Close friends of the Royal couple said that they are happy to have a new dog but all the staff of the Palace have been given strict instructions not to reveal the name of the puppy as it is a very private matter. The news was confirmed by the spokesperson of St James’ Palace.

The spokesperson said that the puppy is from the litter known to the couple through a family connection and is a few months old. The new puppy seems to be a good company for Kate as Will is deployed to the Falkland Islands with the RAF for six weeks.

Some reports said that one of the Royal Navy’s most advanced new warships is being sent to the area. On February 2, 2012 it was confirmed that Prince William will begin his six week deployment as a helicopter pilot. Tonight, the Duke of Cambridge will be flying from RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire. William will be crewing one of the two search and rescue helicopters.

Daniel Radcliffe embarrassed to see himself as Harry Potter?

UK Today News: Now that the Harry Potter series has concluded, the star Daniel Radcliffe says he does not like to see himself in the wizard role. Daniel reasons that he is too embarrassed to watch himself on screen.

The 22-year-old said that he hates to see himself in the role of the boy wizard, which made him a worldwide star and also a multi-millionaire. Radcliffe added that he would cringe so hard that his face could fall off.

The actor admitted that he started consuming too much alcohol while filming the last instalment of the Harry Potter series. Radcliffe confessed that he was able to do his job and never drank at work but it was a daily thing that was leading him down a very destructive path.

Radcliffe at present is dating Rosie Coker, who he met while filming for the last instalment. The actor will soon be seen in the upcoming horror thriller ‘The Woman In Black’, which is due to release this year. Daniel was the hero of the Harry Potter series since the age of 11 and post the completion of the movie the actor is in touch with actress Emma Watson but not with Rupert Grint, who played the role of Ronn Weasley.

David Tennant named Best Actor at BBC Audio Drama Award

UK Today News: Scottish actor David Tennant recently won the Best Actor Award at the maiden BBC Audio Drama Awards. The actor, who was also hosting the ceremony on January 29, 2012 at BBC Broadcasting House in Central London took away the prize for his performance in Radio 3 drama ‘Kafka: The Musical’.

‘Lost Property-The Year When My Mother Went Missing’, which was broadcasted on Radio 4, claimed the award for the Best Audio Drama. Rosie Caveliero walked home with the Best Actress Award for her role in ‘Lost Property: A Telegram From The Queen’, also aired on Radio 4.

The Best Adaptation was claimed by ‘The History of Titus Groan’. The award ceremony was organized to recognize the cultural importance of the audio drama online as well as on air and to give recognition to the actors, writers, sound designers and others who work on the genre.

For his role in the Radio 4 play ‘Referee’, Andrew Scott claimed the award for Best Supporting Actor/Actress in an Audio Drama and the Best Scripted Comedy Drama was claimed by Hugh Hughes. Tim Fountain’s ‘Rock’ won the Best Online Only Audio Drama. The Best Use of Sound in an Audio Drama was won by Bad Memories. The Innovation award was won by The Unfortunates by Graham White.

Sienna Miller expecting first child with Tom Sturridge

UK Today News: English fashion designer, model and actress Sienna Miller is pregnant with her first child. The star’s stepmother Kelly Hoppen said that Miller and her boyfriend Tom Sturridge were looking forward to becoming parents.

Miller and Tom have been together for nearly a year. Hoppen said that Sienna is definitely not engaged or getting married but is pregnant. The interior designer commented to London’s Evening Standard newspaper andwas earlier married to Miller’s father Ed. On the other hand the agents of both sides declined to comment. Before the news was disclosed by Hoppen, the rumours were already circulating in showbiz for a few weeks that the 30-year-old actress was expecting. The speculations increased after Miller withdrew from her role at her fashion label Twenty8Twelve. Miller and her sister Savannah were co-directors of the fashion label.

Miller met Sturridge when they were appearing in different plays in London. Last year, the actress accepted £1,00,000 in a settlement with News International after her phone was allegedly hacked. During the issue Miller admitted that she became so paranoid over the articles about her at appeared in the news that she accused of leaking stories. The articles originated from voicemails that were left on her phone.

Frank Skinner soon to be a father at 55

UK Today News: British actor Frank Skinner recently revealed that he is to become a father at the age of 55. The comedian announced the news to the radio listeners on January 28, 2012.

Skinner is expecting a child with his long time partner Cath Mason, an agent. The actor has earlier shared a flat with fellow comedian and Fantasy Football co-host David Baddiel.

The actor shared the news with the Absolute Radio listeners as he celebrated his 55th birthday. Skinner initially spoke in hushed tones then cleared his throat and said that he has something to announce and said that he is going to be a father soon.

Co-presenter Alan Cochrane then joked and asked the actor if he was paranoid of any jokes he made about ageing fathers in the past. Skinner has been recently made the host of Frank Skinner’s Opinionated, which is broadcasted on BBC 2. The actor also has a regular column in the newspaper The Times. Skinner even contributed Ukulele parts to a song by Fairport Convention known as the Ukulele Central that was featured on their album ‘Festival Bell’. Denise Welch is the new celebrity Big Brother winner

UK Today News: British actress and TV presenter Denise Welch has recently become the winner of the celebrity reality show Big Brother UK. The actress has claimed the title while leaving behind Gareth Thomas, Michael Madson and Frankie Cocozza at the finale.

While leaving the house, the 53-year-old did not disappoint her followers and gave her signature bra flashes. Earlier it was expected that former X Factor contestant Frankie would be the prospective winner of the show after the previous favourite Gareth.

When asked by the show host Brian Dowling how it felt on winning the show, Welch said that it felt brilliant. The TV presenter said that she never felt so lost for words and that she thought that it was a joke.

Amanda Holden stable after pregnancy complications

UK Today News: British actress and presenter Amanda Holden gave birth to her second child on January 23, 2012. This is indeed a happy moment for Holden and her husband Chris Hughes, but the actress had to spend three days in the hospital in a critical condition following the birth of her child.

Amanda is doing fine and Chris has thanked the doctors and the nurses of the hospital who brought her back to a stable condition. The ‘Jonathan Creek’ actress is currently being treated in the intensive care unit and is expected to take some time to recover.

Amanda was admitted to hospital on Monday and Chris has been at her side since then. A spokesperson for the couple said that Chris thanked the whole medical team involved in the care of his wife.

The spokesperson further informed that the baby weighed just over 6lbs and is in a healthy condition. No details of the condition of the actress were revealed, but she is expected to make a full recovery soon.

Amanda was due to be on the judges panel of Britain’s Got Talent. The actress is already the daughter of Lexi and faced complications during pregnancy with a low lying placenta. The new baby has been named as Hollie Rose Hughes.

Amanda and Chris have been married since the year 2008.

Lana Del Rey cancels London concert after album leak

UK Today News: American singer Lana Del Rey was scheduled to perform in a concert to support the Maccabbees at Koko on Camden, London, but reportedly called off the concert at the last minute on January 24, 2012. The singer cancelled the concert after her album ‘Born To Die’ album leaked online.

MTV, the hosts of the concert, released a statement which said that Lana Del Rey was regrettably not able to perform at MTV UK Brand New for 2012 show at London due to illness. The statement added that the singer sent her apologies to her fans for the cancellation.

The songs of the album, Off To The Races, Blue Jeans, Video Games, Diet MTN Dew and Radio leaked online before the official release scheduled on January 27, 2012, and the concert was cancelled immediately after the leak.

In a report of her Saturday Live performance online, Lana said that people were expecting her to fail and even refused to give her opinion on how she felt over the comments. Del Rey stated that she thinks it is disrespectful to God to go to the dark place with this kind of thing. The ‘Video Games’ singer also said that people wanted to see her ‘off the rails’ and that is the only reason they are watching.
