Lana Del Rey cancels London concert after album leak

UK Today News: American singer Lana Del Rey was scheduled to perform in a concert to support the Maccabbees at Koko on Camden, London, but reportedly called off the concert at the last minute on January 24, 2012. The singer cancelled the concert after her album ‘Born To Die’ album leaked online.

MTV, the hosts of the concert, released a statement which said that Lana Del Rey was regrettably not able to perform at MTV UK Brand New for 2012 show at London due to illness. The statement added that the singer sent her apologies to her fans for the cancellation.

The songs of the album, Off To The Races, Blue Jeans, Video Games, Diet MTN Dew and Radio leaked online before the official release scheduled on January 27, 2012, and the concert was cancelled immediately after the leak.

In a report of her Saturday Live performance online, Lana said that people were expecting her to fail and even refused to give her opinion on how she felt over the comments. Del Rey stated that she thinks it is disrespectful to God to go to the dark place with this kind of thing. The ‘Video Games’ singer also said that people wanted to see her ‘off the rails’ and that is the only reason they are watching.

Brit Awards 2012 nominations announced

UK Today News: As the Grammy Awards fast approaches, the UK equivalent of the music awards ceremony, the Brit Awards, have also announced the nominations for the 2012 ceremony. British singer Ed Sheeran has received the maximum of four nominations , while Adele has got three nominations for Best British Single, British Female Solo Artist and Album of the Year.

The process of the choice of nominations is different from that of the Grammys. Based on the sales and airplay, 10 finalists of the British single of the year are automatically selected. The Brit Awards ceremony will take place on February 21, 2012 in London.

Michelle Heaton gives birth to baby girl Faith Michelle

UK Today News: British pop star and TV personality Michelle Heaton recently gave birth to a baby girl. Unlike other celebrities, the singer has given her daughter a very simple name – Faith Michelle.

Michelle has named her daughter Faith Michelle Hanley, and the baby was born on January 11, 2012. Michelle’s husband Hugh Hanley tweeted the happy news and wrote, ‘My beautiful wife @wonderwomanshel gave birth to our gorgeous baby girl ‘Faith Michelle Hanley’ yesterday morning’.

The night before Michelle gave birth, the singer tweeted about how tired she was. Michelle mentioned that she went through a period of four months in to pregnancy when she really felt really uncomfortable in her own skin and would also cry about petty things.

The singer even said that her husband was amazing and used to bring home her favorite cakes everyday. Michelle also disclosed one of the incidences when her husband brought carrot cake and she screamed, ‘Why are you trying to make me f**king fat?!’ while she stuffed the cake in her mouth.

The pop star married the Irish businessman in July 2010 in the Bahamas after dating for two years. In July 2011, it was disclosed that Michelle was expecting her first baby with Hugh Hanley.

Bryan Ferry and girlfriend Amanda Sheppard get married

UK Today News: British singer musician and song writer Bryan Ferry recently tied the knot with his girlfriend Amanda Sheppard. The two got married in a private ceremony on the Turks and Caicos Islands on January 4, 2012.

The 66-year-old singer wore a dark blue suit by Anderson & Sheppard and the 29-year-old wore a Lanvin white dress for the wedding ceremony. Last year, Ferry, in an interview with the Mail On Sunday’s Live Magazine, spoke about his three year old relationship with his girlfriend.

The singer said that he does not want to say the wrong thing in case he gets in to trouble with his girlfriend and added that he never gets to meet people of his own age who are never married. Bryan added that he is fortunate that he works in the music field due to which he comes on to contact with different age groups, either the audience or people you work with.

Ferry was first married to Jerry Hall and met her when she first posed for the Roxy Music album. In the year 1977, the two got separated. In the year 1982, Bryan got married to a London Socialite and model Lucy Helmore and the two got separated in early 2000′s.

Tony Iommi diagnosed with early stages of lymphoma

UK Today News: English guitarist and song writer Tony Iommi recently revealed that has been diagnosed with early stages of lymphoma. The 63-year-old is at present working on a new studio album with the band Black Sabbath.

After the reports, the band released a statement on their official page on Facebook, saying that with the news that Tony has been diagnosed with early stages of lymphoma and the bandmates requested all the fans to send positive vibes to the guitarists at his home. The statement further added that the guitarist is currently working with doctors for the best treatment plan the Iron Man of Rock remains upbeat and determined to make a full and successful recovery.

The statement also added that the band is writing and recording in Los Angeles with the producer Rick Rubin and that Black Sabbath will now go to the UK and continue work with Tony. However, the band has not mentioned of the health of Tony will affect the planned world tour.

As per plans, the band is supposed to tour Europe next summer. In the world of heavy metal, Tony is known as one of the most influential guitarists. In the year 2004, the guitarist was named as number one on Guitar World’s 100 Greatest Metal Guitarists of All Time.

Adele dating Drop4Drop boss Simon Konecki?

UK Today News: British singer Adele might have recovered from her throat surgery, but now it seems like the singer is getting closer to someone special in her life. The Grammy winning songstress was recently spotted getting cozy with Simon Konecki while were enjoying the winter in Florida. Reports have said that the 36-year-old Simon is a boss of the charity called Drop4Drop based in Brighton, UK.

According to eye witnesses, the two were getting cozy as they waited to board airboat which took them to the Florida Everglades National Park near Miami. In the month of December 2011, the ‘Someone Like You’ singer said an interview with Billboard magazine that she was sad that she did not have any one special to share her joy of success with. Adele added that not having someone to share with made her miserable many times.

The London-born singer said that she wanted nothing more than to be in love and be loved back. Adele earlier revealed that she is in no hurry to release a new record and that she plans to take some time out. The award winning singer is believed to be looking forward to doing nothing in the near future.

In the interview, the ‘Rolling in the Deep’ singer states that she imagines that she will be 25 or 26 by the time her next record comes out. However, the 23-year-old singer said that she hasn’t even thought about her third album and that she might just disappear for a while and come back with a new album.

Last year, Adele underwent throat surgery, which resulted in doctors advising her to rest her throat or there could be a possibility that she could lose her golden voice completely.

Mindy McCready and son found by police in Arkansas

UK Today News: American country music singer Mindy McCready, who was absconding for more than three days along with her son, have reportedly been found by the police. The two were found at a home in Heber Springs, Arkansas on December 2, 2011.

The chief deputy US Marshal in Eastern Arkansas, David Rahbany said that the child appeared to be in good condition when he was found. The child was found in a closet with his mother.

Till now, the singer has not been charged with any criminal charges, but Rahbany said that he is not sure if any charges could be waiting for her in future. The 36-year-old singer absconded along with her son November 29, after she fled with Zander from her father’s house in Cape Coral, Florida.

McCready, who had a history of battling with drug abuse, does not have the custody of her son Zander. The custody of the child is with her parents. On November 30, it was reported that McCready was pregnant with twins and cannot come back to Florida as she is almost seven months pregnant. After being found, Zander has been placed in the custody of the Arkansas Division of children and Family services, who will also be arranging to be taken to his legal guardians in Florida.

Lady Gaga reveals going naked for Tony Bennett

UK Today News: American singer Lady Gaga recently revealed that she stripped down for American singer Tony Bennett. Gaga, in the Thanksgiving special show ‘ A Very Gaga Thanksgiving’ on November 24, 2011, revealed that she was asked by Annie Leibovitz to go naked so that Bennett could sketch her.

The ‘Poker Face’ singer explained that she just walked in the room, dropped her robe and got in to her position. Gaga even revealed that she felt shy and at a point thought that it was Tony Bennett and wondered why she was naked.

The sketches that have been drawn by Bennett will appear in the upcoming issue of Vanity Fair. The singer opened the show on Thursday along with Bennett by singing the duet ‘The Lady Is A Tramp.

While talking about that moment, Gaga said that she was star struck by the legendary singer and added that he was so handsome. The 25-year-old award-winning singer even added that she feels terrible when Bennett’s wife is around as he is so charming and is such a gentleman.

Gaga and Bennett have also collaborated for his album ‘Bennett’s Duets II’. During the ABC show, Bennett complimented Gaga stating that she is the most creative singer he has ever met. The veteran singer added that the ‘Born this way’ singer could even one day become the Picasso of America.

The album ‘Bennett’s Duets II’ also features a duet with late British singer Any Winehouse.

Glen Campbell fights Alzheimer’s with support and encouragement of family

UK Today News: American country pop singer Glen Campbell might be suffering from Alzheimer’s disease, but still the singer is smiling and getting on well. The reason behind his smile and happiness is the support and encouragement of his family members.

The 75-year-old is being supported and constantly encouraged by his family which includes his wife Kim, children and some of his business associates. The business associates of the singer are more like his family members and even today encourage him to sing, play golf and guitar and joke.

Meanwhile, even Campbell is in high spirits, who says that he is not bothered of anything and is absolutely cool with no worries. The singer begs to differ from those, who look at him and pity him saying that what is going to happen to him tomorrow.

Katy Perry creates history with five top singles from an album

UK Today News: American singer and songwriter Katy Perry has become the first woman to have the most number one singles from a single album at the US Billboard charts. British comedian Russell Brand’s wife has scored five number one songs from a single album.

The hit singles include I Kissed a Girl – which was once criticized by some when she had just entered the scene, Last Friday Night and the latest chart topper from the platinum album Teenage Dream. Till now, the record for the most singles from an album was held by late pop star Michael Jackson.

Jackson too had five hit singles from a single album. Perry has been at the top for 18 weeks now, while Jackson had maintain the top position for just seven weeks.

Perry also thanked her fans for making her the first woman to be at the top. The ‘Firework’ singer said that she was proud of the milestone that she created and now is compared to the veteran singer Jackson. Perry said that she couldn’t have done it without the support of her fans and had tweeted her gratitude. The track Last Friday Night was on the number two on the chart for some four weeks, but later it was pushed to the number one after a remix featuring Missy Elliot was released.
