UK Today News: Shoya Tomizawa Dies At The San Marino Race In Moto2 Crash At Age 19

Japanese Moto2 Grand Prix Rider Dead- Shoya Tomizawa, a Japanese motorcycle rider died after a Moto2 crash today during the San Marino Moto2 grand prix, at Misano world circuit in Italy.

Shoya Tomizawa was only 19 years old. His crash was serious, and he suffered many injuries, and reports say that he died at 2:22 local time. The circuit’s medical center treated him, and he was later transported in Riccione Jospital, in Northern Italy, and was declared dead later.

Tomizawa won in April at Qatar, and this year, he qualified twice in pole position.

An official statement was released by the MotoGP officials saying – “Everybody involved in MotoGP extends its deepest condolences to Shoya’s family and friends at this tragic loss.”

The young Japanese rider died after he feel off before a turn, and was later hit by the bikes of Alex De Angelis and Scott Redding, who were also riding at top speed.

Gertrude Vachon aka Luna Vachon, a former WWE professional wrestler of Canadian origin, has reportedly died on Friday morning in Florida, reports TMZ. She was 48 and her cause of death is yet to be determined.

Luna,whose real name is born Gertrude Vachon, was well known for being one of the toughest women wrestlers around. She first debuted back in 1985 with Florida Championship Wrestling, where she was a part of Kevin Sullivan’s Army of Darkness. Luna then had her WWF debut in 1993 at WrestleMania IX. She also wrestled in the independent circuit.

Luna is known to have been suffering from bipolar disorder, and only a few days ago, there were reports that her house got burned down and she lost all her wrestling related memorabilia. She was staying at her mother’s place at the time of her death.

The Canadian wrestler is survived by her two sons.

Golfer Tiger Woods and Elin Nordegren are officially divorced after nine months since the shocking revelations were revealed , as per a statement made on Wood’s website today, August 23 2010.

The divorce follows a series of shocking affairs of Tiger Woods, which led to news headlines and major brands dropping him as their ambassador. Even though Woods publicly apologized for his infidelity, and even went to sex rehab, his decision to return to golf rather than work on his marriage, was believed to be one of the causes of his divorce to Swedish model Elin Nordegren.

The official statement on Tiger’s website read: “Elin Nordegren and Tiger Woods confirmed today (Monday) that they have divorced……The judgement provides for shared parenting of their two children.”

Woods and Nordegren married back in 2004 and have 2 children. The couple will both have joint custody over their children in the wake of the divorce.

Anil Khanna, the treasurer of the Commonwealth Games’ Organising Committee resigned today that is August 5, 2010, Thursday due to some allegations against his son Aditya Khanna. This years common wealth games will be hosted in India.

It is claimed that RK Khanna Tennis Stadium’s 14 synthetic surfaces of the courts have been spread by Aditya Khanna’s company and he got this contract on the basis of favouritism.

Aditya Khanna, Rebound Ace India Private Ltd. (RAIPL), a distributor of Rebound Ace, Australia had got the contract for relaying the tennis courts.

Anil Khanna clarified that though his son is the Indian distributor but, the deal is with the main, parent company and that RAIPL would not be paid anything for this.

RK Khanna Tennis Stadiums, had before also surfaced some controversy regarding the stickiness on the courts because of the not so favourable climatic conditions that could have risked the players while playing.

Rock And Roll Half Marathon Chicago: The 2010 Rock and Roll Chicago Half Marathon takes place today, August 1 and began at 6:30 a.m at Grant Park.

Reports say that due to the increasing number of participants this year, the half marathon implemented a wave start and there was a 3:30 course time limit. The course is 13.1-miles long and ends at Grant Park.

The Rock and Roll Chicago Marathon is reportedly around 30 year’s old and it is then followed by the other Chicago Marathons such as the the Chicago Half Marathon in September and the full, 26.2-mile Chicago Marathon that takes place in October.

Reports say that the 2010 Rock n Roll Chicago Marathon results will be revealed after 7pm CDT today.

Lorenzen Wright Found Dead: The missing former NBA star, Lorenzen Wright, was reportedly found dead in a wooded area of Winchester Road in Memphis, yesterday, July 28, 2010. Lorenzen Wright’s mother had filed a missing report with the Collierville police, on the 22nd of July after he went missing on 19th July.

Lorenzen Wright, 34, was last seen leaving his ex-wife’s house at 2 am on July 19th after visiting his children. His wife said she is unsure who the 6’11″ former athlete left with or where he was headed.

Reports say that there was a 911 call made from Wright’s cell phone at 1:00 am on the 19th and while the caller was speaking, the dispatcher heard the sound of many gun shots.

Lorenzen Wright was an American professional basketball player who in his career spanning 13 years, played in the NBA for the Los Angeles Clippers, Atlanta Hawks, Memphis Grizzlies, Sacramento Kings and the Cleveland Cavaliers.

UK Today News: Ex-NBA Player Lorenzen Wright Found Dead

Police found the body of Ex – NBA player Lorenzen Wright who was missing from the past 10 days. Herb Wright, father of Lorenzen was informed by the police Wednesday afternoon.

Lorenzen Wright was missing from July 18 and that’s the last time he was seen. His family later filed a complaint on the 22nd of July with the police that he went missing.

Lorenzen played with different teams throughout his NBA career which lasted for 13 long years. He played with teams like Memphis Grizzlies, Sacramento Kings, the Los Angeles Clippers, Atlanta Hawks and his last team was Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2009-09 season where he played 17 games.

Lorenzen in his career played 778 career games averaging 8 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. Lorenzen Wright was just 34 years old.

Diego Maradona is no more the Coach of Argentina, as the panel made him exit his position on Tuesday. Maradona’s exit from the position of Coach came after Argentina’s football team faced humiliating defeat in the recent 2010 FIFA World Cup. Maradona served two years as a coach for Argentina.

The Argentina Football Association did not renew his contract, as he was presented a new contract to remain coach till the 2014 World Cup but he said he will sign only if his current staff remained.

The AFA stated that it was clearly unacceptable, as the panel had decided to replace a number of people in the staff, and even though they had offered Maradona to stay.

The spokesman from AFA said, that his exit is painful, but still there would be a future role for the man who had made Argentina win the 1986 World Cup.

Argentina had performed good in the World Cup, but they lost badly against Germany in the quarterfinals, resulting to a 4-0 loss, this was considered one of the worst exits of Argentina in any World Cup.

UK Today News: San Francisco Marathon 2010 – 24,000 Runners To Take Part In SF Marathon Today

The 32nd annual San Francisco Marathon takes place Sunday, June 25th 2010 and is expected to see around 24,000 runners participating in the event.

The 2010 SF marathon will see the start of the first half of the race on the Embarcadero, south of Mission St, at 5:30 am.(SFmarathon)

Reports say that the 26.2-mile marathon is likely to cause some road congestion which is expected to clear up by 12:30 p.m.

San Francisco Marathon first took place on July 10, 1977, and Athol Barton was the winner of the first ever San Francisco Marathon.
