UK Today News: The resale of the tickets of the London 2012 Olympics have been temporarily suspended due to some problems on the official website. One of the main problems was that the site which is run by Ticketmaster was slow to update the sessions that were already sold out. On the other hand, the games organizer said that the website was being refreshed and updated.

James Pearce from BBC said that it was possible for customers to buy tickets from the website, but still thousands of people were facing problems. People were able to resell their unwanted tickets for the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics tickets from Friday. According to the organizers of the games, hundreds of tickets changed hands but the sport correspondents of BBC James said that majority of the people using the website were not able to buy the 2012 Olympic tickets that are on sale.

For instance, some of the tickets for the men’s handball semi-finals were advertised that they were on sale on Friday morning. The tickets then were sold as soon as they were put on sale, but then after several hours the same tickets were still shown as being on sale. Many of the customers even complained about the condition on the social networking site Twitter. Some of the people from London tweeted about the problem, “Huge demand for tkts, far exceeding supply. People are only putting up e.g. pairs or fours of tkts to sell at once.”

Many people even complained that when they select the tickets they wanted to purchase on the website, they would disappear when they proceeded to check out the website. On the other hand, people have also said that when they selected to purchase the tickets, the process would take a long time and after a long delay the tickets will no more be available.

UK Today News: British soccer star David Beckham has joined in with the promotion of his new underwear range for H&M and has heated things up at the start of 2012. Beckham recently posed for many black and white shots, in which the former ‘Manchester United’ player can be seen topless with just the underwear and looking every bit a supermodel.

Beckham is also seen flaunting his many tattoos in the pictures. Now it seems like the footballer is not shy to show off his body for the promotion of the underpants for the shop.

With the recent stint of Beckham, the footballer has also challenged the underwear modeling expert David Gandy. While talking about the shoot, Beckham said that he spent more time with his design team as they were discussing about the feel, fit and the style to ensure that the product is not only something he would wear, but the one which he will be proud to have his name on.

Beckham added that he always wanted to challenge himself and this was a a kind of a rewarding experience for him. The husband of Posh Spice stated that he is very happy with the end result and he hopes that the H& M customers will be as excited as he is. The new collection will be available in stores from February 2, 2012 onwards.

Los Angeles Galaxy soccer player David Beckham has been reportedly offered to play in Europe as a loan this winter. Reports state that Everton boss David Moyes says that he is expecting a call from David, if he wishes to come to Goodison Park.

Moyes said that he has already worked with David before at Preston,and that if he wanted to move there temporarily, he just needs to call Moyes or his close friend Phil Neville.

“He knows how to get hold of Phil and he knows how to get hold of me. We would have to look into it financially. But if he came and said to me ‘I would like to come and play’ then I would have to go to the chairman and ask if we could make it work by selling enough replica shirts,” Moyes said.

Reports also say that Neville has been a very old friend of Beckham, from the time he used to play for Manchester United. However after Landon Donovan made a huge impression at the Goodison, Moyes is still expecting a word from Landon, regarding another loan.

UK Today News: China wins maximum gold medals at 2010 Asian Games

2010 Asian Games - With the men’s basketball gold win, China set the record of acquiring the maximum number of gold medals at the Asian Games 2010 at Guangzhou, China.

Reports state that the Chinese men’s basket ball team defeated the South Korean Team on Friday, at the finals for the second time with 77-71. Earlier on Thursday, the women’s basket ball team had also showed the South Korean team a thumbs down with a 70-64 points win.

In the Boxing segment, China bagged three more medals, after sending India to the second position in the sport. Zou Shiming grabbed the 49 kg men’s segment, while it was a clear win for Dong Cheng and Li Jinzi in the women’s category.

In the diving events, Cao Yuan swept the title in the men’s 10 meters platform. China has also won the 400 meters men’s relay, for the first time in 20 years, in the track and field events.

The 2010 Asian Games will end with the closing ceremony on Saturday.

UK Today News: Asian Games 2010 results- India wins 14 gold medals, Closing ceremony on Saturday

The Indian flag was raised again with pride, at the Guangzhou Asian games on Friday, after the Indian women’s Kabbadi team grabbed the gold medal by defeating Thailand in the final match by 28-14. Indian boxer Vijndra Singh won the 14th gold for India.

Reports state that this is the 11th gold win for the country and this is the first time the women’s Kabaddi team played for the Asian Games 2010. The Indian team had dominated the Thai team right from the beginning of the match. It is now time for the men’s team to perform their best, when they face Iran later on Friday.

On Thursday, Indian athlete Tintu Luka had managed to bag a bronze in the track and field segment of women’s 800 meters race, with a record time of 2:01.36. While in hockey, India defeated South Korea in the men’s segment and had also earned a gold for the country.

Boxer Vijendra Singh won the 14th gold for India despite a broken thumb.

UK Today News: Australian Open 2011 – Serena Williams withdraws from tennis event due to injury

American tennis star Serena Williams’s foot injury made has made pull out f the Australian Open in 2011. According to a statement from director Craig Tiley on Thursday, Serena had withdrawn from the mixed teams competition of the Hopman Cup in Perth in January 2011.

So far Serena has played only one match since her win in Jul this year. And this time, she may lose the opportunity to get into the top ten while losing 2,000 rankings.

“As I recently learned, pushing myself back into my intense training too early only caused me further injury and damage,” Williams said. She also said that she had been through a surgery and can’t risk getting back to the court without healing completely.

Previously Serena and her sister have always been in the news with their consecutive wins. In 2010, Serena had managed to get in No. 4 position in spite of playing only six matches tournaments, which include Wimbledon and Australian Open.

UK Today News: 2010 Philadelphia Marathon to see 11,000 runners on November 21

The 2010 Philadelphia Marathon is set to take place on November 21, 2010, and the marathon – which is in it’s 17th year – will take place at 7 a.m. Sunday. More than 11,000 runners are expected to run at this year’s Philadelphia Marathon.

Reports state that there are around 9,000 runners registered for the half-marathon event, and around 3,000 runners are expected to take part in Rothman Institute 8-kilometer run on Sunday. Besides this, the organizers expect 50,000 spectators to cheer the runners on the Sunday.

The 26.2 mile marathon and half marathon will begin at 6:55 a.m. for the wheelchair and handcycle events; while it will begin at 7 a.m. for runners of the marathon and half marathon, on 22d Street on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway.

The Philadelphia marathon winners will go away with $3,500 each, and the 2010 Philadelphia marathon results will be declared once it ends on Sunday.

UK Today News: Zulqarnain Haider seeks temporary asylum in UK

Zulqarnain Haider, the Pakistani wicketkeeper who is in the news, is going through fluctuating temperaments. He announced on Wednesday that he would not be playing International cricket anymore due to the death threat that he and his family have received, after he refused to fix two games against South Africa.

BBC reports that the cricketer has claimed asylum in UK, and is currently in UK after feeing from Dubai. However, new reports state that he can change his decision and return to playing the game at an international level, if the Pakistani b

The 24 year old cricketer said, “I have no intentions of applying for political asylum at this stage and, if the Pakistan government is ready to give me assurance of security for me and my family, I am ready to return to Pakistan. I have no issues playing for Pakistan again provided the Pakistan Cricket Board wants me to play.”

The Pakistan Cricket Board has already suspended Haider’s contract on the basis of violation of terms and conditions. The anti corruption unit of the International Cricket Council says that it follow up on Haider’s case.

UK Today News: Trapped Chilean Miner, Edison Pena participated in the NYC marathon

Edison Pena, one of the 33 trapped Chilean miners was seen competing in the New York City (NYC) marathon that took place on Sunday, November 6, 2010.

It is obviously the greatest thing to come out of almost the death trap, hale and hearty. The miners were away trapped, isolated for 70 days in a mine at Chile.

Pena who is in NYC is surprised by the welcome he got from the city.

He said, “I didn’t expect it. I was a very warm welcome. People in New York are very warm.”

Pena reveals that he used to run six miles every day in those muddy tunnels, when he was trapped inside. He said that was the way to stay fit physically and also maintain the mental sanity as well.

He had a great time running in the New York city Marathon 2010.

UK Today News: NYC marathon results 2010 –  Meredith Vieira finishes marathon, Gebre Gebremariam wins

Meredith Vieira is one happy woman after finishing the 2010 New York City marathon (NYC marathon) and making it to the “results list” of the people who completed the running event. Chilean miner Edison Pena also crossed the finish line on Sunday, making it yet another memorable day in his life.

Reports state that Vieira, who is a co-host of NBC’s ‘Today’ show, crossed the finish line of the 26.2 mile NYC Marathon, and was reportedly showered with roses and champagne on resuming work on Monday. She, along with her co-host Al Roker ran on Sunday’s marathon and were cheered on by family and friends as they completed it.

The 2010 NYC marathon results saw Ethiopia’s Gebre Gebremariam winning his first ever ING New York City Marathon in two hours, eight minutes, 14 seconds. In the woman’s category, Edna Kiplagat of Kenya won the marathon, followed by , American runner Shalane Flanagan.
