Canada Fire, Quebec Wildfires, Canadian Wildfires, Quebec Fire, Quebec Wildfire: There are more than 50 wildfires burning in Canada at the moment, mainly in Quebec and the surrounding areas. Canada’s forest fire protection agency said today, that there around 52 Quebec fires in the area, and the bad news is that some these Canadian fires are totally out of control.

Reports say that Quebec officials have evacuated about 2,000 people from their homes in the areas where the Canadian wildfires are going strong. Most of the fires were reportedly caused by lightning strikes in this area in Canada.

The wildfires are not only limited to Quebec, but it has also affected New England, Kemptville and Merrickville. The thick smoke and haze has made life restless in and around the area, and about 1000 residents of Manawan have evacuated their homes and shifted to safer places.

The 19 year old Lena Meyer-Landrut said: ”I’m so happy and so thankful and so grateful and I never thought that we could do this.”

The Eurovision Song Contest, which was in it’s 55th year, saw Turkish rock band MaNga – who sang the song ‘We Could Be The Same’ – take the second place after receiving 170 points.

The Eurovision Song Contest is a yearly competition held among active member countries of the European Broadcasting Union, wherein each member country sends in a song to be performed on live television and then votes are cast for the most popular song.

Gulf coast oil spill: Thick oil covers the water

The British global energy company BP plc, has been trying all it can to stop the thousands of gallons of oil that has been spilling into the Gulf of Mexico since the April 20, 2010 oil rig explosion; but it still has to find a permanent solution to it.

BP Managing Director Robert Dudley told CNN that the next effort after the Top Kill failure, is to stop the Gulf Coast oil spill by ‘placing a custom-built cap to fit over a piece of equipment called the “lower marine riser package”.’

The new process aims at cutting the riser package in order create a clean surface to cap. In addition to this, warm water will be circulated around the cap so that it won’t freeze.

The BP Oil Spill disaster is currently in it’s 42 nd day as of Monday.

According to Free Gaza Movement, a human rights organization, the clashes took place between an international aid flotilla heading towards Gaza and the Israeli navy.

Reports say that Israeli commandos boarded the deck of a Turkish ship from a helicopter and opened fire on unarmed civilians at 4:30 am.

This has resulted in international condemnation of the Israeli attack on the flotilla of ships carrying aid for Palestinians in Gaza.

It has been reported that the flotilla of six ships – that were sailing from a port in Cyprus to Gaza – were carrying around 10,000 tons of aid to Gaza.

The Israeli attacks have put a severe strain on the Israeli-Turkish relationship and has led to widespread protest and outrage from human rights organizations and people across the globe.

BP Top Kill, BP Oil Spill: BP’s Top kill procedure to plug the oil leak has failed. The Obama administration has called the Gulf coast oil spill as “probably the biggest environmental disaster we’ve ever faced in this country.”

Top Kill attempted to pump huge quantities of mud into the leaking well, in a bid to seal the oil well and prevent it from spewing out gallons of oil into the Gulf of Mexico.

Reports say that BP made three different attempts to block the well, and used almost 30,000 barrels of heavy mud during the Top Kill procedure, which began on Wednesday night. BP also reportedly added waste material into the leaking well in an attempt to stop the leak. The attempts however failed.

Brandy Rayana Norqood aka Brandy was involved in a car crash on December 30, 2006 and it claimed the life of 38 year old Awatef Aboudihaj, whose Toyota was rammed into by the singer’s Range Rover.
Aboudihaj’s two children received $300,000 each, but her husband has not settled the as yet.

So how did the car crash take place? According to Wikipedia:
“Law enforcement sources told TMZ that Brandy was driving her 2007 Range Rover at 65 mph and did not notice that cars in front of her had slowed considerably. Brandy’s vehicle then slammed into the back of a 2005 Toyota, causing the Toyota to strike another vehicle before sliding sideways and impacting the center divider. As the Toyota came to a stop, it was hit by another vehicle.”

Madison Marathon 2010: The Madison Marathon 2010 takes place in Wisconsin on Sunday, 20th May 2010, and will see more than 8000 runners participating in the marathon this year.

The full marathon is 26.2 miles; the half-marathon is 13.1 miles; wheelie marathon starts at 6:55 a.m., and the quarter-marathon is 6.55 miles.

Madison Marathon 2010 will include the following race events : Marathon, Half Marathon, Half Marathon Walk, Quarter Marathon, Kids Race and Wheelie.

Dennis Hopper dead: Dennis Hopper, famous Hollywood actor who has been seen in many films in a typical style of a drug-addled wearing deranged outfit, died at the age of 74 at his home in Venice, California today.

Many of his top movies include – Easy Rider, Apocalypse Now and Blue Velvet. His death was reported to be due to complications of his prostate cancer.

Dennis Hopper had reportedly stopped drinking and avoided using drugs back in the mid 80s. His career escalated since then, and in 2008, six of his films were screened.

He also appeared in the Television series – Crash, a show adopted from the movie of the same name.

It was last year, during the promotional tour for the TV show; he fell ill, which was followed with immediate treatment for his prostate cancer. He stated that he was diagnosed with cancer almost a decade ago.
