Ex-NBA Star Jayson Williams Sentenced to 5 Years Prison for Killing Limo Driver Costas Christofi
Former NBA basketball star Jayson Williams is going to jail after being sentenced to five years in state prison today — for killing limousine driver Costas Christofi in 2002.
The sentence was announced by Attorney General Paula T. Dow and Criminal Justice Director Stephen J. Taylor.
According to official reports, Superior Court Judge Edward M. Coleman sentenced Williams to five years in prison, including 18 months of parole ineligibility.
Last month, basketball player Williams pleaded guilty on to a charge of aggravated assault resulting in injury.
In 2002, Williams was arrested for shooting 55-year-old limousine driver Costas “Gus” Christofi dead on February 14, 2002 after the shotgun he was playing with fired.
