Glastonbury 2011 line-up revealed – Morrissey to open for Irish rockers U2

UK Today News: The popular English singer and lyricist Morrissey, after twenty seven years, will be returning to the stage at the Glastonbury Festival in the UK. The “Suedehead” singer will be performing at the opening night on 24th June, as an opening act for the Irish rock band U2.

Morrissey is known for his stage presence and his massive fan following, which is still the same as it was in the 80s. When Morrissey had performed at a festival in the year 1984, the singer’s act had to be cut short, as the fans had gone out of control and had started to approach the stage.

This time, the organizers have announced a full line up of the festival, which also includes Mancunians Elbow and Coldplay. According to the organizer of the festival, Emily Eavis, this year’s festival has the most exciting line up with such great artists finalized for the event.

Emily said that the Elbow will be entertaining the crowd with the most foot-tapping tracks. The festival will also feature Queens of the Stage in a one- on-one show against Beyonce. Apart from the young crowd, the festival has also something in store for the old fans, who will be swaying at the tunes of Don McLean, who will hit the Pyramid stage after Paul Simon.

B.B King, Primal Scream, The Kills, Mumford and Sons, Biffy Clyro,Cee Lo Green, Barenaked Ladies, Paolo Nutini, The Chemical Brothers, Chumbawamba, are among several others that will be performing at Glastonbury 2011.
