UK Today News: HDIL fire- A major fire broke at Amra building in the eastern suburb of Mumbai
A fire breakdown in one of the busiest areas of Mumbai at the HDIL office in Mumbai, India. The reports states that the fire took place in Amra building, in eastern Bandra on Thursday, November 18, 2010.
Fortunately, no casualties have been reported so far, nor have any injuries been reported. The Amra building has the famous HDIL office in it, which has many around 600 employees.
The Chief Fire Officer of Mumbai, Uday Tatkare said that his men entered the building as soon as the news of the fire was reported to him. The firemen climbed the building through ladders, stairs and have managed to save the people from the flames.
Tatkare said,
“We are trying to contain the fire from spreading. Some of the glass sheets (lining the building’s exterior) have collapsed.”
Bandra is also known as the ‘Queen of Suburbs’. The area is surrounded by wealthy people and has some of the very famous restaurants, offices, pubs, malls in the city of Mumbai. The suburb can be called as an asset of the second capital of India.
