Kate Middleton pregnant but unwell

St. James Palace announced on December 3, 2012 that Kate Middleton is pregnant. This has been one of the most awaited pregnancies, as the Duchess of Cambridge has been a well-known public figure for a while now. The announcement was made on behalf of Prince William and Kate and the child will take the British throne when its time comes, according to new legislation that is awaiting approval.

There has been some concern for the duchess’ condition as she was admitted to King Edward VII Hostpital on December 3, 2012, with a condition the doctors are calling hyperemesis gravidarum. The illness is related to an acute form of morning sickness, which affects roughly 2 percent of the pregnant population and could be an indication of twins.

Dr. Ashley Roman, who is a professor as well as an OB/GYN at New York University Langone Medical Centre said that women diagnosed with hyperemesis gravadium have lost 5 percent of their pre-pregnancy weight. However, this does not cause any problems for the foetus and vomiting is generally considered to be a sign of a healthy pregnancy.

Another OB/GYN at University Hospitals in Ohio Dr. Nancy Cossler said that constantly feeling sick and vomiting is can be stressful to manage, but there is no indication that the condition may cause birth defects or a loss of pregnancy.
