Reports say that Nokia has not disclosed the price of this deal. However, what is known about MetaCarta is that it has employed more than 30 people.

“MetaCarta’s technology combines geosearch and geotagging allowing users to find written content about any place.” (Reuteurs.com)

Earlier this year, Nokia announced that free navigation would be offered on its cellphones and that it planned to make local applications and services available to its mobile phone users.

According to GPSbusiness,”MetaCarta has been working with customers in government, media, technology and utility sectors such as US Army, US Navy, unnamed US intelligence agencies, Schlumberger, Microsoft, BBC, CBS Interactive and Reuters.”
