Scientists develop detector to prevent nuclear smuggling

1135

A new machine has been developed by British scientists which helps in the detection of nuclear material. The machine will be used to detect terrorist attempts to smuggle nuclear material through ports and airports.

The new device can even detect if the material has been shielded from giving off radiation. Prototypes of the machine have already been tested by researchers at the Atomic Weapons Establishment of Britain. The device is expected to be rolled out at all of Britain’s ports and airports as a part of the UK’s secret Cyclamen nuclear monitoring system. There are other nuclear detectors as well, however this one differentiates itself due to its ability to detect nuclear substance despite attempts to hide the radioactive material.
