UK Today News: Testing Of BP’s Containment Cap To Continue Despite Seepage Near Well

BP plc. has decided to leave the new containment cap fixed on the well, as it successfully passes through another day, despite a seepage found near the well. It has been reported that the seepage has no connection to the containment cap or the well. Admiral Thad Allan stated that they would be going ahead with another 24 hour pressure test on the cap.

Oil Cap

The officials have stated that the seepage is not related to the oil well or the containment process, rather the seepage has been found 3 kms away from the site. The testing authorities have been monitoring the well, to see if the cap can really withstand the pressure and also to see whether an intact well would be safe enough, or a relief well needs to be drilled to completely plug the leak.

Kent Wells, BP’s Vice President of Exploration and Production, stated that the test will proceed and as long as the tests go and as long as the cap shows positive signs, it would be very clear that the cap would stay intact and then finally we could have a depleted oil reservoir.
