UK Today News: UCI Head Pat McQuaid Keeps Mum Over Alberto Contador Case

Pat McQuaid, the Head of the Union Cycliste Internaionale (UCI), the world governing body of cycling prefers to keep mum over the Contador case. Alberto Contador has failed in a drug test that confirms him of consuming the banned drug called clenbuterol.

Cycling champion, Contador the three time winner of Tour de France claims that he had been affected with food contamination. McQuaid said he, “It’s an independent process. The UCI are working closely with WADA and we wait until we get to the process.”

Cadel Evans, the road race world champion too is curious to know more about the whole issue. He said, “I just read some little things in the paper, I don’t really know what the situation is, if people are cheating and getting caught, that’s a good thing. But if people want to exaggerate the stories and claim cycling is a filthy sport, that’s not such a good thing. He further added, I don’t know exactly what the situation is there, they’re still waiting on further analysis.”

Both samples were tested positive after the drug test but the UCI said that it will wait until more scientific investigations take place for them to take further decisions.
