UK Today News: The British Royal family formally announced another Royal engagement, after England rugby player Mike Tindall proposed to Zara Phillips, at their Gloucestershire residence on Monday. This will be the second royal wedding likely to be held around the time of Prince William and Kate Middleton’s 2011 wedding.
The 29 year-old daughter of Princess Anne, was pleasantly surprised when 32 year-old Tindall proposed to her. ‘I was really shocked but I am very happy,’ she said.
Tindal is equally excited about his marriage with Miss Phillips and said, ‘I am delighted that Zara has agreed to marry me. We are both very excited about the next stage of our lives together.’
The couple addressed photographers outside their home, dressed in casual jeans and winter jackets, in a stark contrast to Kate and Prince William, who had appeared in a formal attire while announcing their royal engagement.
The Buckingham Palace spokesman said that the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh, were happy to hear the news. However, no dates have been finalized for the wedding but souces say that they may get married in 2011.
