Julie Andrews to receive a lifetime achievement Grammy award

UK Today News: In an announcement, actress and singer Dame Julie Andrews will be receiving a lifetime achievement Grammy award. The Sound Of Music star, for her contribution to music will be receiving the award alongside country star Dolly Parton and punk rock group the Ramones.

A special ceremony on 12 February will be the occasion when the awards will be given out. Jazz drummer Roy Haynes, folk group The Kingston Trio, the Juilliard String Quartet and the gospel singer George Beverly Shea are also among those who will be receiving awards at the ceremony.

Julie Andrews started her career in her Broadway debut in 1954. The actress had previously received a Grammy award in the year 1964 for Best Recording For Children for Marry Poppins.

The Recording Academy for the first time is honoring the punk pioneers The Ramones. Apart from the separate ceremony for the awards, a formal acknowledgement is to be made during the Grammy Awards which will be held on 13 February in Los Angeles.
