Lauren Socha sentenced for racial abuse on taxi driver

British actress Lauren Socha has been alleged of assaulting a taxi driver in Derby City centre in early hours of October 1, 2012. The taxi driver, Sakander Iqbal said that he has been left distraught after she racially abused him and even punched him when he picked her up in his cab.

The 21 year old Bafta winning actress is known for her role as Kelly Bailey in the Channel 4 TV series. The 52 year old was in the city’s Crown court on May 2, where the actress pleaded guilty to racially aggravated assault by beating. The driver also said that he had never experienced such an abuse in the 22 years of service as a taxi driver.

The driver said, “She called me a P***, a dirty b****** and said: ‘You’re Asian, f*** off back to where you came from. She said: ‘Do you know who I am? I’ll have your family lifted.” Socha appeared i the court without make up with her hair piled up in to a bun and a black dress.

The actress was seen sitting in the dock and wiped away tears as details of her case were discussed in the court room.
