The track ‘Survival’ from the British based rock band ‘Muse’ has been selected as the official song for the upcoming 2012 Olympic Games. The 2012 Olympic Games will be hosted in London this summer.

Work was going on, on the track for some time secretively and is a piano and guitar driven anthem. The frontman of the band Matt Bellamy while on the Zane Lowe Show on BBC Radio 1 said, “Someone approached me about a year ago,” but added, “I can’t say who.”

The melodies of the songs were written many months back by Bellamy along with bassist Wolstenholme and drummer Dominic Howard. But the band members had for a while put the track on hold as they had some problems with the lyrics of the song.

But eventually the problem was sorted out and by the time the band was asked to perform at the London Olympics closing ceremony, the song was ready. Bellamy said that they played the track for the Olympic people and they loved it and asked if it could be the official tune. The official airplay of the track was received on Radio 1 last night. The band’s website says that the song is about total conviction and pure determination to win.
