The “Hope for Haiti Now: A Global Benefit for Earthquake Relief” telethon set a new record for donations received for a disaster relief telethon when the total amount raised was $57 million.
The show was hosted by Hollywood actor George Clooney and the money will be used to help rebuild Haiti after the devastating earthquake on Jan. 12th.
Money came in through donations made via phone, online and mobile.
The telethon saw many stars including Leonardo DiCAprio, Reese Wutherspoon, Cameron Diaz, Shakira among many others.
The “Hope for Haiti Now” album also became the biggest one-day album pre-order in iTunes history.
