Kate Middleton and Prince William thank Olympic volunteers

UKTodayNews.com: The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge dropped in at the Olympic Park to say hello and also thank the Olympic volunteers on August 4, 2012 . The royal couple visited the Team Great Britain headquarters in time to be a part of the loud cheer which erupted for Britain’s latest Olympic champions who secured a gold in a new world record for the men’s team pursuit cycle team.

The Duke and Duchess had asked for the visit so that they could thank the volunteers for their work. Among the volunteers, there are 20 members from the military, 20 Games Makers and a range of volunteers who are working with the Team GB at the gathering.

The couple is also working as ambassadors for the British athletes and were later introduced to some athletes from the Commonwealth. There was also a group of Australian athletes among the contingent.

The royals also spoke to the basketball player Lauren Jackson , Australia’s flagbearer and kayaker Jessica Fox , was seen proudly wearing the silver medal that she won last week. Kate has been a regular face at the stands cheering the Team GB while also managing to look gorgeous. The Duchess has been spotted closely observing the games throughout.
