Miss England Rachel Christie | Miss World 2009 pageant

England’ entry to the Miss World 2009 pageant is Rachel Sophia Adina Christie.

The first black Miss England has her eyes set on getting the crown back to England this year.

Rachel, 21, is currently an athlete and she specializes in the  400m and the heptathlon. She is also training for the London Olympics in 2012.

This Miss world contestant also enjoys taekwondo and plays the piano.

Being black and becoming the first black woman to win the Miss England title means a lot for Christie, since she hopes other girls her age will find in her example the hope to follow  her dreams no matter the race or colour.

Unfortunately, according to news reports, Rachel has given up her crown as she was arrested for punching another woman in a Manchester nightclub. Read about Rachel’s arrest here.
