UK Today News: New York’s Triborough Bridge Reopens After Abandoned Truck Bomb Scare
Triborough Bridge : The RFK/Triborough Bridge which was shut down just before midnight, due to suspicion of a bomb scare, was reopened early on Thursday.
Resources say that there was movement noticed on the bridge as the vehicles are moving across the bridge. The main reason for the RFK to shut down at midnight was due to a suspected truck which smelled of gas. The truck was abandoned.
Later the New York authorities confirmed that the truck didn’t possess any threat at all. The NYPD shut down the bridge from both sides after being aware of the incident at around 10.00 p.m.
The NY Bomb Squad rushed to the scene when the toll booth operator approached the vehicle as it smelled of gas. As per the number plate the truck has an Arizona registration and was heading towards Manhattan, before the driver ran away from the truck.
Movement across the bridge has resumed partially from Thursday. Police X-Rayed the whole truck and found nothing. The Truck was a U-Haul truck that belonged to the U-Haul International company from North America
