Obama stated that this oil disaster is a type of an assault on the American shores and they have to fight back strongly against it. His speech pinpointed to the crowd, that the BP oil spill is the worst environmental disaster in the history of America.

The oil spill was the main highlight of his speech, which also outlined his steps to curb this disaster, and he also tried to manage in his own words about his government’s response to control this catastrophe. He also inspected the coast affected by the spill, which includes the states of Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida by helicopter.

After his visit he stated that the Gulf coast is going to face hard times ahead, and he spoke in the context of recovering from the oil spill. He said: “People have every right to be angry. Those plumes of oil are off the coast. Fishing grounds are closed. Tar balls are coming ashore. And people are bracing for more.”

He said that he will see to it that BP pays for the damages that have been caused by them.

The Gulf of Mexico oil spill began on April 20, 2010 after the Deepwater Horizon oil rig exploded and damaged the oil well, resulting in thousands of gallons of oil being poured out into the sea everyday.
