The official day of love, Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and it is time to win the heart of your loved one yet again with flowers from a local British florist. Valentine’s Day can be a bit tricky when it comes to picking flowers. During Christmas, there are seasonal flowers, as well as winter berries and by Easter the daffodils are forming, but Valentine’s Day is positioned at the coldest and bleakest time of the year.
However, for this Valentine’s Day season, flowers from the local British florists are the way to go, as they are also an environmentally-friendly option. There are vases filled with willow and catkins and growers are constantly busy with flowers and ribbons, as they are focused on thinking of the best combination for their clients during the upcoming period.
Georgie, one of the florist says, “Who says there are no British flowers at this time of year? Look at this table-full!” During winter, they cut their own willow, twigs and greenery and supplement them with flowers which have been grown in Cornwall and Lincolnshire by people who have more cover for their plants.
Growing of flowers also inspires a strong sentiment in practitioners and most of them are not driven by the aesthetics and economics of producing something beautiful, but also the social, ethical and environmental implications.
