In a fairytale wedding at the floating city of Venice, George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin say “I Do”.
George Clooney is no more Hollywood’s most coveted bachelor, the 56-year-old star got married to British human rights lawyer Amal Alamuddin in Venice – Aman Hotel on the Grand Canal in Venice, Italy – on Saturday, September 27, 2014.
The celebrations lasted throughout the weekend and were attended by a bevy of Hollywood A-listers, right from model Cindy Crawford, US Vogue editor Anna Wintour, actors Bill Murray, Matt Damon and his wife Luciana, and U2 lead singer Bono.
Brad Pitt and Ben Affleck were supposed to make an appearance, however, the two actors weren’t to be seen.
Apart from tinsel town’s whose who, Amal’s parents Ramzi and Baria and Clooney’s long time business partner Rande Gerber were also at the gala affair.
The Gravity star’s representative Stan Rosenfield gave out a single sentence to the media, “(George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin) married today … in a private ceremony in Venice, Italy”.
According to reports, the ceremony is said to have taken place in English and was officiated by former Rome mayor and a long time friend of Clooney – Walter Veltroni.
There was a little confusion surrounding the couple’s actual husband-wife status, as initially, the duo in love were supposed to officiate their union with a civil ceremony on Monday at the city hall in Venice.
Most of the details of the wedding were completely under wraps, thanks to the oath of secrecy that the staff at Aman had taken, however, the couple made their first appearance ever as man and wife on Sunday as they headed for a post-wedding lunch to Cipriani in their “boat of love – Amore”!
