UK Today News: Kevin Eubanks Leaves The Tonight Show – Rickey Minor Takes Over As Bandleader

Kevin Eubanks Leaving The Tonight Show: Kevin Eubanks, the 52 year bandleader and side kick host of Jay Leno on “The Tonight Show”, bids farewell to the show this Friday. He has been on the show since 1992;with his main role being a support comedian to Jay Leno as well as the lead guitarist on the shows’ band. He became the musical director of the show in 1995.

After being on the show for 18 years, he finally took the initiative to leave the show and concentrate on his recording career. Leno spoke to the media saying, that he and Eubanks didn’t have any arguments on his decision of leaving the show, but said as long as he was with them, they had lot of fun together.

In April this year, Eubanks announced that he would be resigning from the show, and along with him the five member band that accompanied him through out the years too will bid farewell. Rickey Minor, who is better known as the band leader on American Idol, will replace Kevin Eubanks on the daily talk show.
