UK Today News: Remembering Gloria Stuart – The Actress Who Played Rose Calvert in Titanic
Gloria Stuart, who essayed the role of aged Kate Winslet’s character, Rose Calvert in one of the world’s most adored movies, ‘Titanic’ died of failed respiratory system at the age of 100 on the Sunday night.
Sylvia Thompson, the daughter of the actress told reporters that Stuart was suffering with lung cancer since past five years and was a survivor of breast cancer which was diagnosed 20 years before.
Thompson said, “She (Gloria) did not believe in illness. She paid no attention to it, and it served her well. She had a great life. I’m not sad. I’m happy for her.”
Young Gloria’s big banner films include ‘The Invisible Man’, ‘Gold Diggers of 1935’, ‘Poor Little Rich Girl’ and ‘Rebecca’. After which she took a long break from her career and was seen in almost 30 years, during 1970s in television and also in films.
