Tech giant Sony is all set to launch its much awaited next-gen console PlayStation 4 across the globe, including the UK on November 29, 2013. However, recent reports say that shortages of the new console can be expected, as pre-order sales were snapped right after the waiting lists opened in August 2013.

Sony already launched the PS4 in the US market on November 15, 2013. As the Christmas season is fast approaching, there are chances that the latest console might be sold out by then. The online retail giants like Amazon and Currys are issuing warnings to prospective customers that online orders which are taken now will be delivered after Christmas.

With the latest information in mind, parents of the children who were waiting for a long time for their new console might face a major headache. Supermarket chain Asda will be opening 142 stores at midnight on November 28, 2013, as the biggest fans of PlayStation are waiting to grab the first devices. More than 400 high street stores – including Game – will be organizing midnight sales which will be the last chance for console lovers.

The chain is also setting up a pop-up store in central London with just a limited number of devices for sale. On the other hand, Microsoft’s Xbox One sold one million consoles across the globe in 24 hours since its launch.
