UK Today News: After the tragic death of the British singer Amy Winehouse, her parents Mitch and Janice have established the ‘Amy Winehouse Foundation’ to search for a new star. The foundation will provide scholarship to give financial backing to one future star at the performing arts school where the singer had first started out.
While talking about his daughter, Mitch said that Amy was a pupil that the Sylvia Young Theatre School where her talent was recognized and nurtured. The father of the ‘Rehab’ singer continued to share that the Foundation would like to give a child who otherwise could not afford the same opportunity that chance to realise their talents.
The Sylvia Young Theatre School is also known as the ‘Fame Academy’ that has produced legion of talented young Brit stars which include Billie Piper, Emma Watson and Denise Van Outen. At the age if 13, Amy auditioned for a coveted place at stage school.
The founder of the theatre school, Sylvia said that they loved Amy and are thrilled and honoured the Amy Winehouse Foundation is being set up in her name. The founder added that it would be wonderful to find another Amy but there was only one of her.
