Adele’s 21 overtakes sales of Michael Jackson’s Thriller

Seems like, the British singer Adele is unstoppable as she continues to break records with her music. The singer’s album ‘21’ outsold the veteran musician’s Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’.

The album has now become the fifth biggest selling album of all time in UK. The figures from the Official Charts Company revealed that Adele’s album sold 4,274,300 copies, which is 500 more than Jackson’s album.

Moreover, the album is continuing to sell 20,000 copies a week. Martin Talbot, the director of Official Charts Company said, “To add to her many landmark records, Adele’s achievement in overtaking Thriller in the all-time sales list is truly remarkable”.

Talbot added that ‘Thriller ‘ has been recognised as one of the most iconic albums of all time and now there is no doubt that 21 can be spoken of in the same breath. Since the time of the release, the album of the British singer has spent 23 weeks at the number one position and has also managed to outsold the hit albums including Pink Floyd’s The Dark Side of The Moon and Dire Straits’ Brothers In Arms. Adele has also created history by claiming six Grammy awards along with two Brit Awards.
