Roger Federer wins 2012 Wimbledon title, looking forward for gold at Olympics

Swiss tennis player, Roger Federer on July 9, 2012 grabbed the title of a record tying seventh Wimbledon championship. Wimbledon might have concluded on Sunday but the London Olympics tennis is the next that Federer is looking forward.

The 2012 games are all set to begin on July 28, 2012. Now that Federer is back to the Grand Slam tournament, the player can now look up to earn a gold medal in singles for Switzerland, which is till now missing from his overflowing resume.

Roger said, “I do believe my situation has got that little star next to it. I am now the Wimbledon champion, and I think that gives me even more confidence coming to the Olympics. And maybe in some ways, it maybe takes some ‘pressure”. The Swiss player also admitted that there is a lot of hype around him playing the Olympics this year.

Roger also said that it is about winning and not just participating. The tennis champ will not be playing at the athletes village but will rent his usual house near the All England Club, which is an arrangement which worked well for the past fortnight. Federer has been in three Olympics and he met his wife Mirka at the 2000 Games.
