UK retail sales up with increase in demand for winter clothing

A rise has been noticed in retail sales in the month of September 2012, as demand for winter clothing and schools uniform has increased. According to official figures, the volume of sales has increased by 0.6% last month, as compared to a 0.1% fall in the month of August.

A downfall was noticed in the month of August as people preferred to watch the Olympics rather than go shopping. The figures were compared to September 2011 when sales had shown an increase by 2.5%. Retail sales were up by 1% in the months between July, 2012 and September, 2012 as compared to the previous three months. Analysts have warned that food and energy prices might go up in the upcoming months as well.
