Beady Eye cancel V festival due to Gem Archer’s injury

British rock band Beady Eye cancelled their performance at the V festival. The band decided to cancel their performance, after guitarist Gem Archer injured his skull in an accident which happened on August 1, 2013. The band said that Archer is still recovering after a severe head trauma.

The official website of the band issued a statement saying that they are bowing out of all their appearances in August 2013, due to Gem’s injury. The statement said, “The band apologise to fans but under the circumstances feel they can not perform without Gem and want to focus on supporting him”. However, no further details regarding the accident were mentioned in the statement.

The website also stated that Gem was discharged from the hospital on August 7, 2013 and is presently recovering at home, while being under observation. The band’s shows in Japan and Belgium have also been cancelled. The band was originally supposed to play on August 17 and August 18, 2013. Meanwhile, stars like Beyonce, Emeli Sande and Kings of Leon are still due to appear at the event, which will take place in Essex and Staffordshire.

Apart from Gem, Beady Eye also features lead singer Liam Gallagher and guitarist Andy Bell, who shot to fame in Oasis.
