Olympic Luge Tragedy Video Raises Questions of Appropriateness

Ever since the death of Olympic luger Nodar Kumaritashvili, the video recording of his tragedy is still one of the main searches of people online.

The luge competitor from Georgia died on Friday during a training session on Whistler track in Vancouver, barely a few hours before the opening ceremony of the 2010 Winter Olympics.

Sources say that before his death, Nodar Kumaritashvili had spoke to his parents and said that he would “make them proud.” He also allegedly said that he was scared of the track.

Given the fact that many networks displayed footage of Nodar’s last moments, has raised the concern and objection of people across the world for its very graphic coverage.

After the luge tragedy, the support beams have been padded and many other changes have been made to it.

  1. That “padding” on the beams will not save anyone. Who do they think they are kidding?

We see such graphic things in our lives…showing this video is yet another. It is a terrible thing to have to see….but I think it needs to be seen by the right people to make the right changes and NEVER let this happen again.
