BAFTA Awards 2010 : Avatar and The Hurt Locker are the Favorites

The BAFTA 2010 awards, the highest film awards in the UK – takes place today and sees two big movies “Avatar” and “The Hurt Locker” competing for most of the awards. These movies see ex-husband and wife team James Cameron and Kathryn Bigelow battling each other for the Best Film category.

The BAFTA awards will see a number of stars such as James Cameron, Colin Firth, Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Quentin Tarantino, Uma Thurman among a whole list of other stars. It will also see a member of the Royal family as Prince William will be attending the awards ceremony in UK.

One of the big competitors for the night – “Avatar” – has been nominated in eight categories including best film.

However, Avatar is not alone, since it faces big competition in the war drama “The Hurt Locker”- which incidentally is directed by Avatar’s James Cameron’s ex wife Bigelow.

“An Education” also has 8 nominations. It is a drama in 1960s London.
