Singapore bags bronze at the ongoing Commonwealth Games 2014 in Glasgow.
Day 5 of the ongoing 20th Commonwealth Games 2014 in Glasgow saw many exciting sporting feats. Singapore managed to clutch onto a Bronze in a badminton match against India in the third-place play-off tie at the Emirates Arena on July 28, 2014.
In a close shave for Singapore’s Shinta Mulia Sari and Yao Lei against India’s Ashwini Ponnappa and Jwala Gutta, Singapore won by a narrow margin of 3-2. The entire Singaporean team ran onto the court to celebrate as the nail-biting second game score – 21-17, 29-27 – that gave Singapore the winning edge.
Earlier, India’s Ponnappa and R.V. Gurusaidutt were ousted by Danny Chrisnanta and Vanessa Neo in the opening mixed doubles match by a 21-19, 21-19 score.
