UK based mobile phone retailer Carphone Warehouse announced that it is planning to launch its own mobile network. The retailer promised an increased contract flexibility and greater access to free data roaming with the best value 4G network in the UK market.
The upcoming network by Carphone Warehouse will be called as iD and will launch in May, 2015. It will be known as the mobile virtual network operator which means that it will also be having another network as a back up. The new network will be offering the subscriber a number of controlled plans and aims to protect the customers from bill shock.
It will also be offering 4G contracts for 12 months for people who do not want to dive in to 24 or 18 months. The first offer from the network will be the Samsung A3 and will be available for a limited time on a 12 month 4G plan with 300 mins, 1 GB Data and 5,000 texts for £19.50.
The Carphone Warehouse will also be offering a number of roaming plans which will have free roaming in 20 European countries with Australia and US. Graham Stapleton, the CEO at Carphone Warehouse said, “People want greater flexibility from their plans and are fed up with the ‘one size fits all’ approach”. The new network will be competing with the existing networks like Vodafone, EE, O2 and Three.
