UK Today News: Times Square Evacuation – Times Square Evacuated After Suspicious Package Discovered
Times Square evacuation: New York police have reported that the suspicious package that resulted in a midday evacuation on Friday barely three blocks away from the Times Square, was nothing but a package containing water bottles.
According to reports, the package was identified as a cooler that was left in front of Marriot Marquis Hotel, 46th street and Broadway. It was discovered in the afternoon at around 12.42 pm.
The NYPD, accompanied by the bomb squad, reached the scene and after investigating it, they later confirmed that the package was of no threat at all. The evacuation near the scene came just a week after the attempted car bombing on Times Square. The vehicle in the bombing incident was parked west to 45th street and about two blocks away from Marriot Hotel.
