UK Today News: Top Kill Failure – BP Trying Out New Plan To Stop Gulf Oil Spill

BP Top Kill, BP Oil Spill, Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill 2010: BP’s hopes to attempt to plug the leaking oil well with their Top Kill plan, turned out to be a failure. Ever since the Deepwater Horizon oil rig explosion took place last month, the leaking oil well has not been fixed, and this has resulted in the country’s worst ever oil spill disaster.

Gulf coast oil spill: Thick oil covers the water

The British global energy company BP plc, has been trying all it can to stop the thousands of gallons of oil that has been spilling into the Gulf of Mexico since the April 20, 2010 oil rig explosion; but it still has to find a permanent solution to it.

BP Managing Director Robert Dudley told CNN that the next effort after the Top Kill failure, is to stop the Gulf Coast oil spill by ‘placing a custom-built cap to fit over a piece of equipment called the “lower marine riser package”.’

The new process aims at cutting the riser package in order create a clean surface to cap. In addition to this, warm water will be circulated around the cap so that it won’t freeze.

The BP Oil Spill disaster is currently in it’s 42 nd day as of Monday.
