UK Today News: Walter Hawkins Dead – Gospel Singer Dies Of Pancreatic Cancer at 61
Walter Hawkins: Walter Hawkins, renowned Gospel singer and Grammy award winner, died at the age of 61 on Sunday at his residence in Ripon, California. Walter was diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer, which resulted to his death. His family stated, that ”he had fought bravely against the disease, which made him suffer a lot, now as he his gone, he won’t suffer anymore.”
The Gospel singer was born in Oakland, California. In his young age, he had obtained the divinity degree from the University of California. It was later in 1972, that he recorded his first album, ‘Do Your Best’. In the year 1973 he became a Pastor, and opened the Love Center Church, in Oakland.
Hawkins, had earned a Grammy for his album the ‘Lords Prayer’, and also that he was nominated nine times for the Grammy awards in his life. Hawkins is survived by his two children, Trystian Hawkins and Walter Jamie Hawkins Jr., his wife who was a former gospel singer, Tramine Hawkins, was married to him, but later they separated.
