UK Today News: Facebook Creates Social Networking History By Reaching 500 Million Members
Social-networking site Facebook, announced that it has reached the benchmark of 500 million members – which indicates that almost one third of people around the world who use the internet are members of the website. The announcement of this feat was made by Facebook founder and CEO, Mark Zuckerberg on the website’s blog.

Zuckerberg thanked the internet users and wrote: “This is an important milestone for all of you who have helped spread Facebook around the world. Now a lot more people have the opportunity to stay connected with the people they care about.”
Facebook was launched in 2004 and has seen a big leap in it’s members over the past few months, after it jumped from 400 million in February to 500 million this July.
