UK Today News: Trapped Chilean Miners Alive – Rescue Operations To Take Four Months, Say Officials

Chilean Miners Alive – The families of the thirty-three miners who have been trapped underground in Chile since August 3rd 2010, were relieved to know that the men are alive, after they sent a handwritten note to the rescue officials conveying the good news. The flip side of the good news is that Chilean officials say that it could take several months to rescue the workers from the mine.

Chilean President Sebastian Pinera stated that the rescue officials received a handwritten note, after they lowered a probe into the mine on Sunday. It is likely to take 4months to get the 33 men out of the mine.

CNN reports that the miners are believed to be taking refuge in a small shelter 2,300 feet underground, that possibly includes water and food for the miners.

The news of the miners led to a very emotional gathering of friends and family of the trapped men.
