UK Today News: Sarah Shroud, Detained Hiker In Iran, Is Scheduled To Be Released On Monday

Sarah Shourd, one of the three American hikers held in Iran, might get released on Monday, if everything goes well, according to reports. The hikers have been detained by the Iranian authorities for almost a year now ever since they allegedly strayed into Iran while hiking in Iraq.

Reports state that the Iran judiciary is waiting for $500,000 to be submitted for the release. Massoud Shaifi, the lawyer for the hiker said, “Everything is in place for the release. It’s up to the family when to deliver the money.”

Samantha Topping, who is a representing the mothers of the hiker’s said that they still need time to officially confirm the news.

According to sources, Shroud should have been releaseed in the weekend itself, as announced by the Iranian officials, but it was put on hold due to the incompletion of the legal procedures. Swiss Ambassador, Livia Lew-Agosti had informed, “Technicalities demanded by the attorney general are currently under consideration by the embassy in Tehran.”
